International Day of Climate Action invites us to reflect on the climate crisis, one of the most urgent challenges of our time. At SODECA, we recognize the importance of taking concrete actions at all levels to address this global challenge, and on this date, we reinforce our commitment to the environment.
We firmly believe that our actions can create positive and lasting change for the planet. We have implemented various measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving waste management, advancing towards renewable energy sources, and promoting local development. Our mission is to contribute to the mitigation of climate change effects through innovative and sustainable solutions.
For this reason, we support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, aligning our goals with the SDGs most relevant to our area of action. We actively promote 9 of the 17 SDGs and contribute to 26 of their targets through various actions, thereby fostering sustainable development and maintaining a balance between the economic, social, and environmental aspects of our company.
Innovation for Environmental Conservation
As manufacturers, we design advanced ventilation solutions that not only optimize energy savings but are also environmentally friendly. Our equipment is engineered for maximum efficiency, integrating technologies that reduce consumption and minimize energy loss.
A clear example is the heat recovery ventilation systems, such as AIRHOME. These units use the heat from the stale air they expel to temper the clean air they introduce. This method helps maintain the indoor temperature achieved by climate control systems, which represent the largest energy expenditure in buildings. Additionally, our heat recovery units utilize EC Technology electric motors, which reduce environmental impact and energy consumption costs.
The fans and extractors with motorized dampers are another solution we have designed at SODECA to enhance energy efficiency. Equipment such as the THT WALL for facades or the HATCH/HP for rooftops allows precise control of fresh air intake and contaminated air expulsion, contributing to significant energy savings and almost negligible heat loss. This design approach not only generates important savings for our clients but also helps reduce atmospheric emissions.
Responsible Waste Management and Circular Economy
Proper waste management is another key pillar of our sustainability strategy. At SODECA, we promote reuse, recycling, and recovery of waste through prior segregation in our production processes. We avoid disposal and incineration methods that generate greater environmental impacts, prioritizing waste management based on the circular economy. We collaborate with local managers to minimize emissions resulting from waste transport while contributing to local development. This policy aligns us with the principles of the circular economy.
Reducing Carbon Footprint: An Essential Goal
One of the main factors causing climate change is greenhouse gas emissions. At SODECA, we rigorously measure, verify, and reduce our carbon footprints, which are verified by Bureau Veritas. Since 2015, we have managed to reduce our greenhouse emissions by 36.45%, a milestone achieved through improvements in energy efficiency and the implementation of sustainable practices. This effort has been recognized by the spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), which has awarded us carbon footprint calculation and reduction seals.
Continuous Environmental Improvement
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is also one of the key objectives of our Environmental Management System, certified by ISO 14001:2015. This certification, based on continuous improvement, endorses our environmental performance and our constant efforts to optimize our activities and processes to reduce our impact on the environment.
Efficiency in Material Consumption
In addition to reducing our emissions, at SODECA, we also work to optimize material use. In 2023, we achieved a 22.60% reduction in total packaging consumption compared to the previous year, and a 24.77% reduction specifically in plastic use. This reduction is a clear example of how we continue to progress toward greater efficiency and sustainability in all our processes, prioritizing the use of recycled and recyclable materials in our operations.

Our commitment to sustainability has been recognized globally. A prestigious international organization, which has assessed over 130,000 companies worldwide, has placed SODECA among the top 27% of companies in terms of sustainability. This recognition is a testament to our efforts in environmental, social, and economic fields and drives us to continue improving day by day through sustainable practices while maintaining the highest standards in all our processes.
